What is a GreenStar home?

A GreenStar home is a home that is certified by a GreenStar program. The home must meet a very lengthy list of standards to prove that it is environmentally friendly and energy efficient. Each detail is thoroughly examined in accordance with the GreenStar guidelines. In the end, you save money on utility bills (gas, electric and water) and are helping our environment in the long-run.

How much more energy efficient will a new home be compared to a typical existing home?

You will save approx 40% on a MN Greenstar home. You will save approx 50-60% or more depending on the products you choose.

How long will it take to build our dream home?

Building your home will take anywhere from 3 to 6 months, depending on how customized your plan design is. We of course try to build within your expectations but we also want to ensure your house is built thoroughly and to plan, and this can take time. We do allow for some Mother Nature delays but sometimes Mother Nature does decide to add a few more days of delay in the building process.

What is your average square foot cost?

This is one of the most asked questions we receive but until we know what type of home style you want and the type of products you want in the home, we cannot give you an accurate sq ft cost. Please contact us to discuss your needs so we can provide an accurate estimate.

How much money do I need to put down?

Depending on the type of program, you can put down as little as $500 to 1000.

How much will it cost to finish the basement?

Finishing off a basement is typically the most cost efficient sq ft to finish off. The price will change depending on the type of products you choose, ceiling heights and the affiance of the design, but a typical basement could be finished for approx $30.00 per sq ft. (bathroom cost would be higher). Example: a 10 X 10 bedroom would be $3000.

Can I purchase a lot and wait to build?

Yes. Homes by Biermann offers many lots for you to choose from. You can even put a lot on 'Hold' for 30 days until you're ready to purchase. Then we'll start the building process as soon as you're ready. Please keep in mind that some of our developments do have covenants and restrictions that state you must build within a certain timeframe, typically within 1 year.
 

Do you build on lots outside of your developments?

Yes! We are more than willing to build on lots located outside of our developments. Whether you already own a lot, have a different area in mind, or need help finding a lot to build on, we are fully serviced to suit your needs and look forward to working with you.

Currently we have three Heartland Communities located in Wisconsin and one in Minnesota. They are as follows:

  • Whispering Waters - Amery, WI
  • Herons Landing - Turtle Lake, WI
  • Glacier Ridge Estates - St. Croix Falls, WI
  • Highlands of Red Wing - Red Wing, MN

Our newest Heartland Community, Highlands of Red Wing is a brand new development, located close to downtown Red Wing and neighboring schools.
